NautiBuoyMarine

Since the launch of Nautibuoy Marine Platforms, owner Clay Builder has spoken to yacht crew all over the world, asking how their products can be improved. This has lead to more research and development, the launch of other associated platform addons and improvements in the already successful range of platforms

NautiBuoy Marine specialises in a modular system of inflatable platforms and docks, which can be enhanced with a range of accessories for both leisure and maintenance use.

With each platform incorporating 4 x 40 litre Ballast bags on the underside, the jet-ski dock has eight ballast bags in total (all with quick dump system) making it incredibly stable. Plus, as it is in two sections it can rolled and stowed easily. The added versatility of the two platforms enables them to also be configured as an L-Shaped tender bay, end-to-end as a long runway or side-by-side as a large area for relaxation, the choice is yours.

We recently interviewed Captain Steve Osborne of the very busy charter yacht MY Slipstream
on their experience with the NautiBuoy platforms.

HOW HAVE THE NAUTIBUOY PLATFORMS CHANGED THE WAY YOUR CREW PROVIDE HOSPITALITY AT WATER LEVEL?
"As a busy charter boat, we have always had a decent ‘stern set up’ with lots of toys and inflatables. We used to use a large jet- ski dock as part of this, but have found the NautiBuoys to be a better alternative to this. More stable and more versatile. We now find that people like to stand on, sit on and play on the platforms more than they used to with the jet-ski dock. The sun chairs have also made a big difference. It now forms the basis of every different stern set up that we do, and we plan to buy more to further improve this offering to our guests".

HAVE YOUR CREW COMMENTED ABOUT USING THE NAUTIBUOY MARINE PLATFORMS?

They love them. Nice and sturdy, easy to deploy and recover and light weight compared with other inflatables that we have used. We certainly prefer their user friendliness and versatility compared with our jet-ski dock. Less storage room is needed, so this adds to their benefits.

ARE THEY EASY TO INSTALL AND QUICK ENOUGH TO RETRIEVE WHEN YOU HAVE TO MOVE?
Yes, the deckies say this is the best part of the NautiBuoy platforms. When we arrive at an anchorage, obviously the guests want to get in the water as soon as possible. And, obviously when we’re heading to a different location, the last thing a guests wants to hear is that we’re delayed because of packing up the toys and platforms. After we bought the NautiBuoy system, we’ve never had any delays either end!

HOW HAVE THEY IMPROVED YOUR GUESTS AND OWNERS EXPERIENCE?
They like to sit on the sunbeds and watch their kids play on the other inflatables and toys that we have out. Because they are tied directly on to the stern it is easy to serve them drinks there too. We have also used them as a platform for beach landings where we could not get the tender in to the shore due to swell.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE THING ABOUT THE PLATFORMS?
That they are light, easy to deploy and recover, easy to clean, dry and store and the fact that they make the swim platform larger. They effectively double the size of the swim platform and are a useful place to launch inflatables and towables from. They look much better than other inflatable we have used and are much more comfortable to walk on too.

WHAT ARE SOME OF THE CHALLENGES THAT NAUTIBUOY PLATFORMS HAVE SOLVED FOR YOU?
Beach landings without beaching tenders, which is great for guest safety. Another great benefit is when we need to wash down the hull. We place a special cover over the platform to protect it and away we go.

WHAT ARE THE PLATFORMS BEST FEATURES?
How sturdy, light, versatile and user friendly they are. To be honest the owner and guests love them just as much as the crew. But I think the best element is the beach deck extension that just gives us so many more options for laying out all the toys.

HAS STOWAGE BEEN AN ISSUE?
No. We have had a bilge modified specifically to fit them. They are large, but when rolled up they pack down nicely, and the crew have never moaned once!

Nautibuoy Marine

Clay Builder looks at the benefits of the multi-usage Platforms from Nautibuoy Marine. Their modular system simplifies daily topside maintenance jobs

NautiBuoy Marine specialises in modular inflatable platforms, docks and accessories. Specifically designed to extend the aft of any size yacht, the modular system enables you to customise the extension to suit your yachts needs and activities for any given day.

Their versatility gives you the freedom to create transom extensions, beach clubs, jet-ski & SEABOB docks, stable walkways, private islands & maintenance rafts.

A couple of platforms simply connected together provide owners, captains and crew with a multifunctional set of inflatable tools that offers solutions to several common issues at water level.

When the boss is on, the platforms can be used by the owner and guests. When the boss is off, the platforms can be used for daily topside maintenance and also heavier yard period work.

Simply convert the boss ready platform with the addition of a fully protective maintenance cover. Plus, with the addition of collapsible Velcro bottom buckets and hose holders, your crew can work efficiently around the topsides without loosing equipment over the side

With inflation/ deflation times in under 5 minutes across the entire size range, the platforms can be single- handedly inflated and launched anywhere quickly and easily and when the boss wants to move, recovered quickly.

We interviewed Captain Frazer of MY Gene Machine about his experience with the NautiBuoy Platforms:

1. Have the platforms changed the way your crew provides hospitality at water level?
Yes, absolutely, they have had very positive impact on our ability to conduct water sports and general maintenance.

2. How have the platforms changed the way your crew work?
They’re certainly very useful for washing, conducting repairs and detailing when we are limited on space between vessels whilst moored. They are sturdy and there is no risk of damaging the hull.

3. What do the guests and owners like most about the NautiBuoy Platforms?
Our guests love them, they extend the yachts swim platform allowing the crew to deploy more toys out at the same time.

4. What do you like most about them?
When we setup our “NautiBuoy Marina” it allows us to showcase all our toys and give the guests more options.

5. What are some of the challenges that NautiBuoy platforms solve for you?
1) Having “dockage” for all our toys when at anchor (2 sailboats, 4 jetskis, paddle boards etc.
2) Washing / Detailing the hull without having to detail a tender afterwards!

6. How does the NautiBuoy platform compare to other inflatables?
Wipes the floor with any other inflatable platform we have used.

7. Are there any instances where you have created a way of using them that has solved any water level problems?
We have created our own tender docks on numerous occasions allowing our guests to get ashore in remote locations without having to use our smaller tender and without getting their feet wet.

8. What are the products best features?
The sturdiness and the way they connect together

THE NAUTIBUOY MARINE PLATFORM WAS DESIGNEDAND CREATED BY TWO EX-SUPERYACHT CREW, OUT OF THE FRUSTRATION FELT WHILST WORKING ON MEDIUM TO LARGE MOTOR AND SAILING YACHTS

NautiBuoy platforms first won recognition after being awarded a Gold category prize in the prestigious DAME Awards at METS in 2015. A gap in the market was spotted for a multifunctional, easy to use, leisure and maintenance platform that can be linked together in any configuration.

From the outset the founders wanted to create a range of inflatable tools with a wide range of uses with additional

accessories to enhance capability. The platforms are seen as an extension to the yacht, so a faux teak finish was added to fit in with the style and lines of any yacht. They are also made incredibly stable due to the unique ballast system that can be manually emptied before retrieval.

Due to the modular nature, instead of having one large cumbersome piece of equipment that is difficult to handle and store, the platforms are quick to inflate and deflate (all in under 5 minutes) and can be retrieved and stored with short notice, which comes in very handy when the boss wants to move quickly.

For the superyachts and larger vessels, the platforms can be linked together in endless configurations, allowing crew to create beach clubs, Jet Ski docks, tender bays, and long runways and walk ways. The Owners, Captains and yacht crew can customise their own layouts and offer different shapes depending on the activity.

These configurations make the perfect watersports station helping protect the yacht from watersports activity as well as the toys themselves. They make the watersports toys more accessible for the users and allow crew to offer even better hospitality at water level.

One of the popular trends for charterers is to charter yachts with ‘beach clubs’ on the stern. Those yachts without the actual onboard space can still create this facility with the addition of the NautiBuoy platforms and docks.

On board Mischief we have had 4 of the NautiBuoy Platforms and other accessories for over 3 years now and they are brilliant. We use them for everything; swimming, sun baking, launching the water toys, cleaning the sides of the boat and in particular the safety they provide when docking the tenders and unloading passengers, has proven invaluable. The NautiBuoy platforms act as an extension of our yacht that we use everyday, they are a must have item for any boat big or small. You won’t find better.
Owner, M/Y Mischief

MY Ocean Club, who have 12 platforms onboard, make use of the versatility and change the configurations to suit their requirements. Usually set up as a beach club runway, they changed configurations when one of their guests decided to fly in on a seaplane, allowing the plane to be berthed along one side with their toys on the other. The Owner said “NautiBuoys are truly amazing! I have been able to create an additional 80 foot beach club/marina! Very exciting!!”

The smaller yachts also benefit greatly from the platforms as they effectively allow them to have a much more cost effective yacht extension, without the huge costs involved and additional berthing fees.

Phillip Ashworth, a 40ft Atlantis owner had the following to say about his new 675 inflatable platform- “It’s nearly 8 square meters of entertaining space and for the whole summer it was full of ladies or children. It is a serious bit of boating brilliance that added an invaluable amount of space and fun.”

In the relentless pursuit for the perfect solution, the founders designed the platforms to have the ability to transform from a guest ready leisure platform into a solid inflatable maintenance tool. Simply add the lightweight, non-skid fitted cover to protect the platform and your crew can easily clean, varnish, paint, polish and have the hull of the yacht looking immaculate. They can even still link together if needed for those larger yard jobs.

The smallest platform can be inflated and launched in under two minutes and with the addition of suction cups with cleats, hose holders and collapsible buckets with lids that attach to the platforms, crew can work around the topsides easily. Gone are the days of having to detail the tender after a full topside wash down. Specifically designed with soft loops and edges, the platforms can sit alongside your vessel for days without you having to worry about any damage. You’ll never have to play “where’s the raft?” in a yard period again.

The latest addition to the modular range is the New C-Dock, compatible with F5, F5S and F5SR Seabobs. These are a drive in-Drive out solution that prevents the repetitive lifting in and out of Seabobs from the water. They allow the Seabobs to remain in the water whist being safe, secure and protected. The rib collar style dock, with a ballast bag for stability provides a great training station for new users of the Seabob. They can be used on their own, connected together or connected to the NautiBuoy platforms.

The main ancillary toys of the vessel such as Jet Skis and Seabobs, can now all be protected together in one watersports station, that’s easy to access and right there on the water, ready to go.
