SYNERGY IS THE INDEPENDENT HVAC (HEATING VENTILATION AND AIR CONDITIONING) CONSULTANCY FOR SUPERYACHTS AND FORMS PART OF THE BOND SUPPORT AND SERVICES GROUP. WITH OUR TEAM WE BOOST OVER 25 YEARS’ EXPERIENCE AND EXPERT TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE. TO DATE SYNERGY HAS BEEN INVOLVED IN OVER 60 NEW BUILD AND REFIT YACHT PROJECTS. HVAC IS A PART THAT CANNOT BE UNDERESTIMATED. IN EVERY ENVIRONMENT AND SEASON, NO MATTER WHERE ON THE YACHT, THE TEMPERATURE NEEDS TO BE COMFORTABLE BY COOLING OR HEATING.

The Synergy consultants work with owners’ teams, designers and shipyards. Our independent position means we are not tied to any particular supplier, enabling us to take care of your specific needs and demands and guide you through the whole process without prejudice. Building a bespoke yacht needs an HVAC system tailored to your needs. Synergy can write your technical and functional specifications, take care of the tender review process and manage the build up until commissioning. We provide support at every stage of your project.
The decision to refit your yacht can have a significant impact on your HVAC system. For example, a renewed propulsion system will require the engine room ventilation and technical spaces to be upgraded to meet the new system demands. Likewise, air conditioning in the accommodation areas may need to be fine-tuned. We provide technology surveys prior to your refit to identify its impact and any possible challenges, and follow this up with recommendations on the most suitable upgrade solutions. Once we have highlighted necessary interior and structural adjustments we continue to provide support regarding the new design and engineering.
Often the idea is that HVAC is only about temperature but it is much more than cooling and heating. The HVAC system is the largest energy consuming installation onboard of a modern yacht and big efficiency steps are possible within this system without compromising on performance and comfort.
AIR QUALITY AND HEALTH
HVAC must be an air treatment system. In a closed environment like a yacht there is a high risk of getting infected by viruses, bacteria and risks on building up mold. Large amounts of minuscule airborne droplets filled with bacteria and microorganisms caused by an ill person get spread easily. These suspended particles do not only quickly spread through one room but through the whole yacht by means of the HVAC system. Humidity levels are also a big influence in the spread of bacteria. That’s why it is important to control the air quality and create a healthy inside environment. There are several options to prevent your guests and crew from getting contaminated or to prevent mold build up. Every type of filtration has their own pros and cons and we recommend the best fitting for your system.
ONBOARD CREW TRAINING
We fully believe that you can only get the best out of your HVAC system if the onboard users know what they are doing. That is why we provide comprehensive crew training to equip those on board with a greater understanding and knowledge of all aspects of the system. This not only results in superior comfort onboard, but also helps to reduce costs, such as avoiding interior damage during periods of high humidity when the yacht is in economic mode. The training covers a basic knowledge of HVAC to understand the underlying physics, and practical training to master the onboard system. Awareness and understanding are key to maintaining a perfect working system.
